After a video was leaked onto the Internet involving Akon and his raunchy onstage dancing with an underage fan, Verizon drops Akon from there advertising campaign. Verizon also decided to stop its sponsorship of pop star Gwen Stefani’s tour, Akon was the opening act for her tour. This comes after much controversy from critics was made because of his actions. This seems to be good move for Verizon to protect there public image as being family friendly. If Verizon would have looked into Akon’s music prior to signing him to an advertising contract they might have chose differently. Although this has upset some fans due to Akon’s popularity it should not have an affect on Verizon’s business.
